Question 1

What is a shipping container?

Accepted Answer

A shipping container is a standardized steel box originally designed for transporting goods by sea, rail, or road. They come in standard sizes — mainly 20ft and 40ft — and are made from very strong corten steel that can last 25–30+ years with proper care. Today, containers are widely repurposed into homes, offices, shops, schools, and many other functional structures.

Question 2

What types of containers do you sell in Kenya?

Accepted Answer

We sell and fabricate: dry cargo containers (20ft and 40ft), high cube containers (taller at 9.5ft), refrigerated containers (reefers), open top containers, flat rack containers, tank containers (tanktainers), and modified containers (homes, offices, stalls, schools, and more). We also offer ablution block containers and cladding services.

Question 3

Where are you located in Nairobi?

Accepted Answer

Our yard and offices are at Kamakis Corner, off Eastern Bypass, Nairobi. We are easy to find and welcome site visits. Call us first to confirm availability and schedule your visit: 0715 557 559.

Question 4

Do you deliver containers to other counties in Kenya?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We serve all of Kenya — Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Nyeri, Nanyuki, Machakos, Embu, Meru, and beyond. We have our own fleet of self-loading crane trucks for reliable delivery and placement.

Question 5

Are your containers new or used?

Accepted Answer

We offer both. New (one-trip) containers cost more but are in pristine condition. Used/second-hand containers have been in service and may have minor dents but are still very strong. We only use food-grade containers for all structures meant for human occupation.

Question 6

What is a container home and how much does it cost in Kenya?

Accepted Answer

A container home is a house built from one or more shipping containers. They are strong, faster to build than traditional homes, and affordable. In Kenya, a basic studio container home starts from Kshs 700,000–1,200,000, a 1-bedroom from Kshs 1,200,000–2,000,000, and a 2-bedroom from Kshs 2,200,000–3,500,000 depending on finishes.

Question 7

Are container homes legal in Kenya?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Container homes are legal structures in Kenya and can be placed on your land with proper documentation. You may need a development permit from your county government depending on location. We advise clients on the permitting process. Permanent container structures on your own land are treated similarly to conventional buildings.

Question 8

How long does it take to build a container home?

Accepted Answer

Most container homes are fabricated in 3–8 weeks depending on size and complexity. This is significantly faster than traditional construction. Site preparation (foundation) runs concurrently and the container is transported and placed when ready.

Question 9

Can a container home withstand rain, wind, and heat in Kenya?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Shipping containers are built to survive harsh ocean conditions. They are very strong and weather-resistant. We add insulation, proper ventilation, and roofing solutions to make container homes comfortable in Kenya's various climates — from Nairobi's cool highlands to the hot coast.

Question 10

How much does a container office cost in Kenya?

Accepted Answer

A standard 20ft container office starts from Kshs 500,000–800,000. A 40ft office is Kshs 900,000–1,500,000. Luxury or executive offices range from Kshs 1,500,000–2,500,000+. Cost depends on features like AC, smart glass, executive bathrooms, and premium finishes.

Question 11

How quickly can I have a container office ready?

Accepted Answer

Container offices are typically ready in 2–4 weeks. This is much faster than constructing a conventional office block. They can be placed on-site and connected to utilities within days of delivery.

Question 12

Can I customize the layout of a container office?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We design offices to your specifications — open plan, partitioned rooms, reception areas, server rooms, boardrooms, and more. We can combine multiple containers side-by-side or stacked to create larger office complexes.

Question 13

How much does a container stall cost in Kenya?

Accepted Answer

Container market stalls range from Kshs 280,000–650,000 for a basic 20ft unit. 40ft stalls go for Kshs 550,000–950,000. Multi-door stalls (for multiple vendors) range from Kshs 800,000–1,400,000 for a 40ft unit.

Question 14

Question 15

How much does container transport cost in Kenya?

Accepted Answer

Within Nairobi: 20ft container Kshs 15,000–35,000; 40ft Kshs 25,000–55,000 (includes transport and offloading). To Nakuru: 20ft Kshs 45,000–65,000. To Kisumu/Western Kenya: 20ft Kshs 80,000–100,000. Contact us with your delivery location for an exact quote.

Question 16

What is a self-loading crane truck?

Accepted Answer

A self-loading crane truck (also called a tilt-tray or crane body truck) has a hydraulic crane arm built into the truck. This means we can load, transport, and offload a container using the same vehicle — no separate crane is needed. This saves time and money and lets us maneuver into tight spaces.

Question 17

Do I need to prepare my site before the container is delivered?

Accepted Answer

Yes, some preparation helps. Ensure: (1) a clear access road wide enough for a large truck; (2) no overhead obstructions (power lines, tree branches); (3) a level or prepared ground area; (4) space for the crane to operate. We're happy to advise on site preparation before delivery.
